Useful Information
If we haven't answered any of your questions here, please do feel free to contact us.
Check In
Check in is generally from 4pm to 9pm and 10pm at weekends. If you have to attend a function, you are very welcome to drop your bags from 11am and collect your keys, so you can then come and go as you please. We will place your bags in your room, ready for your return. Sometimes we can have your room ready earlier depending on the amount of arrivals/departures we have that day. In either event, please call us the day before to let us know and we will see what can be done. Arrivals after this time may be subject to a charge of £10 an hour which goes towards the staff who have to work overtime. We do not accept check-ins after Midnight.
Check Out
Generally Check-Out is at 10.30am. We do have a late check-out option of Midday for a small charge. However, this is limited due to the turnaround time required to prepare our rooms for the next guests. Please contact us if you would like this option.
Electric Vehicles
We have Fast chargers on the property capable of charging at 7Kw. You will need to download the Pod-Point App to use the chargers. The units are Pod Point Solo 3 7KW chargers with Type 2 sockets. Detailed specs can be found here. Charges apply.
Pets
We welcome dogs in just two of our rooms, providing they are well behaved. The rooms are The Garden Suite and The Waldingfield Room. Both rooms are located on the ground floor of The Stables Annex, adjacent to the main building. Usual rules apply i.e. not on furniture, must be fully vaccinated and please clean up afterwards. There is a hot outdoor shower to clean muddy paws and some old towels for drying them. We have a dog and cat ourselves, so if your dog may be a cat chaser, dogs on leads please. There is a maximum of two dogs allowed per room at £10 pdpn. Dogs are not permitted in any other bedrooms. Owners are fully responsible for their pets at all times and we regret the necessity for having to say this, but we will charge for any damages.
Swimming
The pool is open from the start of April to the end of September, weather depending. We keep it a fabulous 28'C so it is lovely and warm. Extra swimming towels are provided free of charge. The pool is 40 feet long and 4 1/2 feet deep, making it great for lengths and safer for children. Rules do apply - please ask for details.
Tennis
The tennis court is available year round. We can provide raquets and balls. However, we do ask that you wear the correct footwear or it will damage the court.
Keys
On arrival you will be given high-security electronic keys to enable you to come and go as you please. Please don't lose as we will have to charge if you do.
Breakfast
Our award winning breakfast is served collectively at our Rectory Table and charged separately as some guests choose to forgo it or have an early start. A continental from the buffet is £14 and £19 to include a cooked breakfast. There are often deals for those booking direct, so please do check, currently we offer a continetal plus cooked for just £14 all in. Breakfast is served from 8.30am - 10.30am. A copy of our normal menu can be found here
Special Diets
If you have special dietary requirements, please do let us know in advance as some diets are more complex than others. We will always do our best to accommodate you.A copy of our alternative menus can be found here as follows; Veggie, Vegan, GF Free.
Twin Beds
We have two bedrooms that can be made as a twin. The Waldingfield room (Superior) and The Garden Suite (Suite). However, please let us know the day before you arrive or place it in the notes when booking.
Allergies
We have one Hypoallergenic room - The St Lawrence Room (Delux)
Taxis
We always advise guests to book their taxis direct with a taxi company ahead of their stay. Our butler is fantastic at getting cabs last minute. However, it can be problematic and time consuming. Our preferred partners, based on quality and quantity, are “BMF Cars” – 01787 581 166 and "Sudbury Town Taxis" - 01787 377366.
Children/Babies
Please note that from 2022 onwards we will not be accepting children under 16, neither will we be offering cot beds or camp beds. In the meantime, all of our rooms can take either one cot bed or one camp bed (but not both) with the exception of The St Lawrence Room (delux) which is not available to children at all. Charges apply in addition to breakfast. There is a maximum of one child per room.
Minimum Stays
During our peak season, from April to October, we generally have a minimum stay at weekends (Friday and Saturday). This is to avoid us being empty on a Friday night when we could otherwise be full. If we find that we still have availability the week before or we have rooms booked for just Friday night, then we will realease availability for a Saturday only.
Family Rooms
With regret, we do not have any family rooms and children under 16 will not be permitted from 2022.
Food/Takeaways
Under no circumstances do we allow takeaways to be brought in. We have had a number of issues, some very serious, with spilt food and lingering odours. Any guest in breach of this rule WILL be charged a minimum of an extra night plus any damages/losses incurred as a result. We appreciate that this may sound harsh. However, we also hope that guests will appreciate what it must be like to arrive in a room with stains on the carpet or smelling of Curry.
Walks
There are lots of fabulous walks in the region. We have some great guides and maps at the house. Please just ask
